Maxine Pegg Johnson

Maxine Pegg Johnson, age 94, of Boone, passed away on August 20, 2012 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home. Following cremation, a private family memorial service will be held. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Maxine was born on August 12, 1918 in Green Mountain, Iowa, the daughter of Ira and Jesse Pegg.

Maxine graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1936.

On June 15, 1940, Maxine married Richard L. Johnson in Marshalltown, Iowa. The couple moved to Boone that same year.

Maxine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Boone, Boone Golf & Country Club and the Red Cross Auxiliary. Maxine volunteered at the Woodward State Hospital, enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and reading.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard; her brother and sister-in-law Walter (Buck) and Martha Pegg; her two sisters and brother-in-laws Wilma and Marvin Roepke and Edith and Ernest Tassler.

Maxine is survived by her son Terry Lee Johnson and his wife Sheryl "Sherry" of Jacksonville, Florida; her two grandchildren Alan Lee Johnson of Jacksonville Beach, Florida and Dee Ann Wulbern and her husband Shands McKeithen Wulbern of Jacksonville, Florida; and two great grandchildren, Carsten Alan Wulbern and Andrew Shands Wulbern and numerous nieces and nephews.
